Description
I love everything about events and wish to transfer that love to my attendees! Every component of an event must be thought through – from the moment a potential attendee hears of the event till the last message they receive from the organization. I have planned all sorts of events: unconferences, multi-day camps/conferences, seminars, classes, weekly socials/programs (for 4 + years), mixers, parties and more! Many of the teams I manage are flat as I feel it allows for the group to take ownership over the event while still assuming semi-specific roles. I have been fortunate enough to be able to design not only the flyers and websites of events but schedules to ensure the user experience of the event is consistent throughout the entire event.
Mottos for the team
Use “we” not “I.” Ideas that are formed from our diverse teams are collective – we never arrive at an idea without the help of a team.
All meetings should be task specific and structured but allow for creativity as well
Titles don’t mean much if the work isn’t being doneĀ – drop the ego(especially for community organizations).
Notes for the team
Most attendees don’t see when you mess up. This doesn’t mean take it lightly but when something goes – take a deep breath – and pivot!
When stressed out, remind yourself of why you are doing this – often enough the goals and the fact that your attendees will have a blast can erase all of your concerns.
